The most relevant functions of the drug packaging
The most crucial question for the patient is that the medicine packaging is informative and safe. Therefore, there is a list of guidelines that must be met by the manufacturer if it wants to introduce an innovative pharmaceutical on the market.
What is the most important issue for the manufacturer? Surely, to make the packaging of the pharmaceutical as attractive as possible for the patient.
Safety and high quality of tablet packing are two characteristics that must be kept in mind by the producer if he wants to win the buyer's confidence. The packaging is supposed to preserve against external factors, conceivably altering the medicine's properties (for example light or high temperature). Moreover, it is supposed to defend against mechanical injuries and biological contamination. Above all, however, it is supposed to enable decent drug recognition. Therefore, the packaging must include the name of the regularly employed active substance incorporated in the given medicinal product. If more of them is used, all are supposed to be nominated and a plus sign should be located between them. The package should as well include information on whether the pharmaceutical is meant for toddlers, children or grown-ups. The manner of dosage, the warnings regarding the place and manner of storage, the expiration date, name and address of the company responsible, the marketing authorization number, batch number and guidance for dosage must as well be provided if the medicinal product is sold without a prescription. There are also special ground rules for packaging graphic layouts.
Ubicating pictures such as chocolate, toys or balloons on them is rigorously prohibited. This may culminate in a customer being confused and considering the medicine as for instance food.
