The secret Amber Room – force of amber and gold. Something special, something glorious.
It’s the most popular location in history, not only, because it was made of gold and amber, but also because of its wanishing in the stormy years of Second World War. There are many speculations of possible place of hiding the Amber Room (a few of them are in Poland – Owl Mountains, Nysa, Cracow). The Amber Room was made for Tsar Peter the Great in XVIII century (it was a gift from Prussian king Frederick William I. The major decorative panels were transported to Russia in eighteen containers.
The Amber Room was located in the Catherine castle of Tsarskoye Selo (summer residence of Russian tsars near Saint Petersburg). The amber room was covered by more than 55 square meters and included over 6 tones of amber. It is a precious piece of craft, which include gilding carvings, Danish amber panels, splendid gemstones, looking glass and statues. This place was used to house a collection of amber-work and Chinese porcelain. There were lots of priceless furniture to sheltered and presented this remarkable collection. The Amber Room was looted during World War IIby Army Group North of Nazi Germany and brought to Konigsberg fortress (crushed during an Allied bombarding) and then it disappeared. There are many guesses what the destiny of the Amber Room was.

One of them says that it was destroyed by Allied bombs, second claimed that it was replaced from the castle and maybe hidden somewhere in the town, third – that it was loaded onto a boat, but gone under during the relocation. It has also been believed that the hall got misplaced and simply forgotten and maybe it will be discover after many years in some old depot between some container, tables and other furniture or other gone treasures. It is believed that the Amber Room is coursed and those who are hardly solving its mystery passed away or are calamity. After many years the Amber Room was restored by Russian craftsmen and shown in 2003 (it was associated with 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg).
